King Abdullah Holds Talks with UK PM to Strengthen Jordan-UK Ties
The King underscored the longstanding relationship between Jordan and the UK and expressed Jordan’s readiness to expand cooperation in economic, investment, and technological sectors. He also highlighted the importance of joint efforts in defence and military fields to support regional stability. His Majesty praised the UK for hosting the upcoming round of the Aqaba Process initiative, set for Tuesday.
King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s opposition to Israeli actions aimed at consolidating settlements and asserting sovereignty over the West Bank. He also stressed the need to ensure the Gaza ceasefire agreement is upheld and to allow humanitarian aid to reach all areas of the Strip. Additionally, he called for support for Syria in safeguarding its security, stability, and sovereignty.
Prime Minister Starmer emphasised the significance of the UK-Jordan partnership in promoting regional stability and reiterated his country’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations across multiple areas.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Alaa Batayneh, Director of the King’s Office, and Jordan’s Ambassador to the UK, Manar Dabbas.
